MDC alliance spokesperson Professor Welshman Ncube has hinted at him being the next in command in the alliance after Nelson Chamisa.
Addressing journalists at the just ended Gweru alliance rally, Ncube said there was no vice president in the alliance but levels of hierarchy could be determined by the order of speeches by the principal leaders.
“There is no vice president in the alliance, however, we all know the strengths of the alliance partners, in terms of the order you can determine by who speaks before president Chamisa , so that should give you an idea in terms of hierarchy,” said Ncube.
Of the Alliance partners, Tendai Biti and Agrippa Mutambara had made speeches whilst ZANU Ndonga’sMutape Sakwinje was booed off stage before he could speak, Ncube then finished off the alliance partner’s solidarity speeches and introduced Chamisa suggesting that he could be the most senior alliance leader although Biti seems to be a crowd’s favourite.
Ncube who is also the MDC-N leader added that they were in talks with the other two coalitions CODE and rainbow to join them and form a formidable opposition.
“We are talking to other coalitions, if we are heeded or not, we are certain where the momentum of the people is.”
Speaking on the issue of a parallel rally held on the same day by Khupe in Bulawayo standing as MDC-T president, Ncube said she had minority backing and the people were clear on where they stand.
