From the look of things on the ground the Zimbabwe national Army has taken over control of the country following a dramatic fall out with G40 faction apparently led by the first lady Grace Mugabe.
So far reports are saying that the Zanu PF Political Commissar and Minister for Local Government Savior Kasukuwere , Minister for Finance Ignatius Chombo ,Minister for Higher and Tertiary Education Jonathan Moyo and Zanu PF Secretary for Youths Kudzai Chipanga have been arrested by the Army.
Reports also suggest that the President Robert Mugabe and his wife have been placed under house arrest. The Presidential Offices at Munhumutapa Building have been barricaded with armored army vehicles.
Meanwhile the Army has assured that the President is safe and they rubbished reports that this is a coup, saying they were only targeting criminals.
The Army believed to be aligned to the Lacoste faction have silenced the G40 team and its stewards the first Lady Grace Mugabe, Kudzai Chipanga, savior Kasukuwere and others. Early in the morning around 3 am the Army had taken over the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Holdings and addressed the nation assuring the citizens to be calm and avoid unnecessary movements, fellow security arms have also been warned to corporate and political parties’ churches have been sternly warned to also remain calm.
Although people are going about their normal business in the Harare CBD, they are agitated on what is going to happen next after this.
Armed forces are controlling traffic in the CBD and less police officers are seen moving around town.
The Zanu PF Youth League, who were spearheading Grace Mugabe Ascendance to power calling for appointment as the vice President of the country replacing the ousted Emerson Mnangagwa, seem to have shifted their attacking mood to a composed one exhibited by their twitter handle which is posting in support of the army move.
So far its Goal time for Lacoste and zero for G40 who have become surprisingly mum.
