Why aspiring Presidential candidates should be rich

By Tafadzwa Muranganwa

FreeZim Congress leader Joseph Busha has called on Zimbabweans to consider voting for Presidential candidates who are financially stable to avoid looting of state resources.

Busha who is based in South Africa told his party members that rich candidates are less likely to embark on self-enrichment drive at the expense of the citizens.

“I urge people to choose leaders who have managed their lives well as they stand a good chance of ably leading people without enriching themselves,” he said.

Busha is the founder and group managing director of JM BUSHA Investment Group a social corporate involved in investment management, investment banking, life insurance, financial advisory services and social investments programs with subsidiary companies in Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe

The business mogul took a swipe at some crop of opposition leaders who don’t have cars and have no houses of their own adding that they are not electable.

The 53-year-old politician who is vying for the presidency in the 2018 elections said he will not be joining any coalition or alliance because the leaders there lack integrity.

“A coalition should be led with men and women of integrity and unfortunately the current coalitions fall short of that,” he said.

According to Busha Zimbabwe Electoral Commission lacks credibility to run elections adding that “the status quo will not guarantee free, fair and credible elections and there is the inherent need for electoral reforms,” said the FreeZim presidential hopeful.

Meanwhile, FreeZim Congress has said war veterans should be given enough respect in the country due to their immense contribution which brought independence.

The Joseph Busha led party says if elected into office it will ensure free health and education for all and believes it is achievable.

Various opposition leaders have made their intentions to contest the 2018 general elections known, however, analysts believe the move will not help anything but only split votes.
