Zvorwadza hunting Kasukuwere – “I want to arrest him for corruption”

By Daniel Chigudu

National Vendors Union of Zimbabwe (NAVUS) Chairperson Sten Zvorwadza has said he is hoping to meet Minister Saviour Kasukuwere in a convenient place so that he can personally arrest him for corruption and hand him over to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) for prosecution.

Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere is being accused of corruptly selling housing stands to Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) leader Walter Magaya, his young brother and a host Zanu PF legislators who include Shadreck Mashayamombe and Sarah Mahoka among others.

The housing stands had been set aside for distribution to youths at the instruction of the President.

Addressing the media, Zvorwadza said the seven day ultimatum he gave to the Police Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri to arrest the Minister has elapsed without any action being taken therefore leaving him with no option but to institute citizen arrest.

“When the Government heard that I had given an ultimatum for the arrest of Minister Kasukuwere, the Government of Zimbabwe coordinated through its systems some efforts to try and bring Kasukuwere very, very close to President Robert Mugabe, meaning to say they promote and support evil.

“And what we are doing is we have not just gotten to a point where we find Kasukuwere at a convenient place. If we find him we are going to arrest him, we are going to tie him and bring him before the ZRP for his crimes of corruption. Kasukuwere has not only done corruption this year, he has been doing corruption for so many years.

“And we are not talking of Kasukuwere alone in the bracket of corruption, Chombo is the one of the most corrupt people who has been seen having over 500 houses across the country. A man that does not earn a salary of over US$5000 per month. CEOs of companies cannot afford to have 3 houses in 20 years, but Kasukuwere affords 500 houses.

“We are saying these corruption tendencies and protection of corrupt leaders will come to an end, we have our local courts here but we also have other courts outside the jurisdiction of Zimbabwe, they will be forwarded to ICC and other international courts to be tried for other cases like crimes against humanity, but Kasukuwere in terms of corruption we will prosecute him here,” said Zvorwadza.

Minister Kasukuwere is also clashing with cooperatives in Caledonia where he is being accused of fleecing people of their money using the Urban Development Corporative since 2015, promising development that has not come.
